The school is committed to providing a comprehensive program to students and families in preparation for the college search and selection process. Each family has the opportunity to meet individually with a college counselor to discuss the student’s aspirations and strategies, in addition to engaging in a series of workshops and programs that cover a range of topics relevant to all aspects of the college or university experience.

Juniors:
UVA will host an evening program at Maury High School in Norfolk on May 13th at 6:30pm. Admission counselor Stephanie Coberly and current UVA students will be present to talk about UVA and its admission process.

Seniors:

Scholarships: You need to fill out a pink form for EVERY scholarship that you do. The procedure is just like a college app. This list is also available in Naviance under “Scholarship List.”

  • East West Foundation: For a senior residing in the City of Suffolk or the County of Isle of Wight and who has an interest in/acceptance to the school of engineering or architecture at any Virginia college/university. See CC for an application. Due May 1.
  • Elizabeth Gardner/King’s Fork Woman’s Club: Open to any senior who lives in the King’s Fork School zoning area of Suffolk. See CC for application. Due April 20.
  • FAME Scholarship: For students who plan on furthering their education in the field of arts. Areas are visual arts, performing arts, and literary arts. See CC for an application. Due April 17.
  • ***Frank G. Stegall Quality Scholarship: Given by the Tidewater Section of the American Society for Quality. 1000-1500 word essay is the main requirement. See CC for an application. Due May 1.
  • Franklin Rotary Club: Candidate must reside in Franklin or Southampton County. See CC for an application. Due May 1.
  • Jack E. O’Connor Scholarship: For members of a credit union in the Tidewater Chapter of Credit Unions. See CC for an application. Due April 20.
  • Suffolk Woman’s Club: $1000 to a high school senior. See CC for an application. Due April 20.
  • Will to Win: For students with asthma who have achieved a “level of excellence in either the performing arts, community service, athletics, visual arts, or science.” Online at www.schering-ploughwilltowin.com or see CC for an application. Due April 15.
